Ghostbusters 2016 Review

Last night I was lucky enough to see a preview showing of the new Ghostbusters film, my eldest daughter was very excited as she’d had her eye on this film ever since the trailers started.

I on the hand was sceptic about it, I’m a huge fan of the older films (as are most) and my fear was this was going to be just another remake, after all how could they live up to the originals?

There are a lot of nay sayers out there just because the cast are female which I think is unfair, in no way is it an anti-men which I’ve heard a couple of times it can be enjoyed by everyone.

Be aware that thereally may be spoilers ahead, don’t say I didn’t warn you:

This modern take on our much loved Ghostbusters films is a must see for all and you will be suprised by how much you enjoy it.

I’d say from 8 up is perfect age if your taking your kids but obviously younger if your kids are tough.

The cast each have the perfect roles, Melissa Mccarthy brings her effortless comedy to the film without going overboard. Kristen Wiig is a little more serious (but not too much) , the yin to Mccarthy’s yang. Kate Mckinnon is awesome she’s basically that friend you have that says whatever she’s thinking with some added crazy and Leslie jones completes the girls with her down to earth humour even though her encounters with ghosts should have her running for the hills.

Ghostbusters Review

Of course you can’t forget the dim receptionist Kevin (played by Chris Hemsworth) which brought a lot of laughs to the table.

The story of course unfolds with a haunting but as you’ll see from watching the film these random hauntings are not what they seem.

My favourite bit was having cameos from our beloved Ghostbusters,  Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, unfortunately one short RIP Harold Ramis. There was also an appearance from slimer, the original receptionist played by Annie Potts  and the original haunted lady herself Sigourney Weaver.

It’s a great story line with ups and downs and laughs along the way. Don’t be put of by it been different from the original or bad reviews, you will enjoy it. Decide for yourself 😊

Infinity Crate April 2016 – Allegiance

There’s no shortage of geeky boxes out there but a lot these days can be hit and miss. I’m still looking for one that doesn’t disappoint or even a box that can give me a few great boxes in a row… if not indefinitely.

Infinity Crate

Little spoken about is Infinity Crate, we stopped ordering as we were getting double pop vinyls and the stuff wasn’t really worth the wait at the time but I know a lot of people that are dedicated to the boxes.

That said it has changed a lot since the last time I ordered from them, the website has had a major overhaul and the new design is much better. Also the subscrption service has changed you can have the the classic box which is £16.99 p+p and a premium box £23.99 p+p for the ultimate geek.

Infinity Crate April 2016 Allegiance
Infinity Crate April 2016 Allegiance

That said I couldn’t find many reviews about there April 2016 box with the theme “Allegiance” which I thought was a pretty good box.

I’m just going to jump right in with the contents I’ve seen and you can tell me what you think.

The classic crate: Pop & t-shirt personalised to you.

  • Superman Funko Pop Vinyl
  • Captain America Funko Pop Vinyl
  • Batman socks (with capes)
  • Games of Thrones : Jon Snow tshirt (depends on your interest)
  • Batman vs Superman Keyring
  • Batman vs Superman Vinyl Sticker
  • Batman vs Superman Mini Poster
  • Captain America Shield Mouse Mat

Two Pop Vinyls alone are a good deal, my son would have loved to get his hands on it but I don’t know if two pops are common for the classic crate and Batman socks with capes (hell yeah) only way that would be better if they were Harley Quinn.

Not a Game of Thrones fan but it’s got a huge fan base,so Jon Snow tshirt for them my only complaint would be white tshirts….hate them. Keyring and vinyl sticker for the long awaited Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice again yes… I may be weighed down by my many keyrings in the future but they aren’t boring ones.

Mini poster is a bit crap but oh well and as for the mouse mat I know what your thinking, who sits at a PC these days…not many of use its true but did you know mouse mats make great dinner table placemats. Your probably laughing but it’s true plus you’ll have extra geeky ones that no-one has (unless they’ve read this too) and in that case they have good taste 🙂

The Premium Crate:

  • Batman Inflatable Bat
  • Superman Socks (with capes)
  • Batman Wallet
  • The Hobbit Stickers/ tattoos
  • Funko Pop Vinyl Captain America Civil War Iron Man
  • Game Of Thrones / Captain America Civil War Mug
  • Mini Poster (same as classic)
  • Tshirt (as per interests)

What do you guys think?, May’s theme is Honour.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review

I’ve been using Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt for a good couple of months now and I wanted to make sure I used it really well before I gave you my opinion and review of the product.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review
Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt

I’m one of those people that no matter how much I’ve tried to remove every last trace of my mascara and eyeliner I still end up with some sort of panda eyes happening in the morning. Which is annoying when you feel like you’ve rubbed your skin raw. I’ve tried various different methods and materials, wipes never seem to be enough even the ones made especially for eye makeup removal and although cotton pads with liquid makeup remover work like I said there is always some left behind.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt gel to cleanser

The Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt is a gel-to-oil cleanser, preforms like a gel and make up removal of an oil. It’s a lightweight formula that melts and thoroughly removes makeup and impurities.

Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Review

To use simply smooth the gel over your entire face (dry skin not wet), massage until the gel transforms into lightweight oil,  the makeup and impurities will be removed. Then all there is left to do is rinse and your left with clean soft skin.

I’ve used this with various amount of makeup from daytime natural to night on the town and it removes it so well. My skin feels clean and fresh afterwards a feeling that lasts until morning. It even removes my waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner which are stubborn to say the least. One of the best qualities of this product is it doesn’t leave my skin sore from scrubbing the makeup off, that always made my skin feel 100% worse. My skin has improved as it doesn’t get the torture of makeup removal anymore. I’d recommend trying this not only for removing stubborn makeup but also to make removing your makeup easier and quicker, the less time consuming something is the more your willing to make it part of your daily routine.

Look : Vintage Romance Sleek MakeUp

There are many different eyeshadow palettes out these days, you can buy a huge palette with 100s of colours or build your own palette buying single colours. I like creating my own palettes but you can’t go far wrong with Sleek Makeup palettes. Each uniquely different, perfectly named and highly pigmented.

Available in Superdrug, Boots aswell as other retailers. I have a number of these palettes and thought I would show you a daytime look using the Vintage Romance Palette.

  • Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
  • No7 Brilliantly Bare
  • Rimmed Match Perfection – Ivory
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • MAC Eyeshadow – Vanilla & Soba
  • Sleek Makeup : Vintage Romance Palette – A Vow in Venice & Love in London
  • L’Oréal Super Liner – Black Lacquer
  • Benefit Kohl Pencil – Onyx
  • L’Oréal Mega Volume Mascara : Miss Magna – Black
  • Model Co : More Brows – Medium/Dark
  • No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick – Brick Red

If red lipstick is too much for your daily look swap it out for something more subtle or a nude lipstick. To tone down the eyes skip the winged eyeliner and just use mascara.

Review : Benefit Puff Off!

Every woman has those little wonder products in their makeup bag, the mascara that lengthens your eyelashes, the lip gloss that gives you fuller lips and all these help us achieve our daily look.

But what if you don’t have anything but 15 mins to get ready in the morning, concealing and contouring will take too much of that time and you can’t leave the house with only half a face on. Whether your a mum on the school run, in a rush to beat traffic to get to work or trying to recover from a night out Benefit Puff Off! Will help you out.

Benefit Puff Off review

Benefit Puff Off! Is an eye gel that instantly smooths puffiness under the eyes. The gel itself is peach coloured and has only a slight fragrance. If you’ve used Benefit products before such as Benefit Eyecon or Benefit Its potent then you’ll love this little wonder. Not only does it smooth puffy tired eyes but will also smooth out fine lines and creases. It can be used alone or under makeup.

Benefit Review Puff Off

Personally I use this when I’m short for time in the mornings or running a little late for the school run. It’s suprising how much of a difference it makes, I use it along side Benefit It’s potent eye cream which is a brightening cream that fades dark circles. I like that the formula is light, cooling to the skin and you only need a little for each eye so a little really does go a long way. The photo above show you just how little you need to use to achieve results.

Pop In A Box – Shop Orders

Our collection of pops have changed so much I think its time for an update, with new buys, delivery’s from pop in a box its hard to keep track of all of them, some have gone while our favourite collections have only expanded.

Random Pop Vinyls

There are some sets I favour overall and personally for me my Supernatural pop vinyls are my favourite with my Once Upon A Time coming in a close second.

There’s nothing quite like getting a long searched for pop either out in the wild or buying from a fellow collector. Most our new arrivals are mystery pops but there are a few that I ordered from the Pop in a box shop which have arrived lately.
If your anything like me then waiting for certain pops to possibly be put in your monthly subscription isn’t an option so I like to pre-order the ones I want the most from the pop in a box store. There are plently places to pre-order pops from but pop in a box is my go to as you know where you are in the queue to recieve one, its usually cheaper and payment isn’t taken until they have stock.

I put in two pre-orders last year (December) for Once Upon a time Captain Hook and Regina these were a small part of ever growing pre-orders list but I knew I wanted them. When payment was taken it wasn’t long until they arrived as I had good queue numbers, I recieved Hook early January and Regina a couple of weeks later. They arrived in great condition, bubble wrapped and in a sturdy box. I was really pleased as I hate when pops arrive damaged.

As you can see perfect packaging, I then ordered Supernatural Bobby Singer because no collection would be complete without him, it arrived just in time for Mothers day again perfectly packed and no damage.

Supernatural Bobby Pop Vinyl

Just make sure to mark off the pops once you’ve recieved them otherwise you may end up with a second one in your pop in a box subscription. Any questions feel free to leave me a message and I’ll get back to you.

Lookfantastic Beauty Box Review – April #LFBLOOMS

Its been a while since I was sitting down at the computer to write a blog post but sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day which I’m sure many mums out there will agree with. It’s always a little crazy in our household but let me explain a little why beauty boxes had become unimportant and why the Lookfantastic Beauty Box has grabbed my attention.

I haven’t had many beauty boxes for the past year or so as I found I had a mountain of stuff I wasn’t using, some of which was stuff I would probably never use and it came to a point where the cost of the boxes just didn’t live up to the contents. Instead of monthly subscrptions I instead bought the boxes I liked the look of and spent the money on new beauty items I really wanted to try (reviews to come).

That was until Febuary this year when an advert caught my attention for the LookFantastic Destination Beauty Box, up until that point I’d heard about it but just was tempted to go back to monthly subscrptions and piles of products I’d never use. A huge selling point of this box was the price at 11.25 a box with free delivery it’s worth a chance especially with the brands available to LookFantastic.

Look fantastic April Beauty Box

The box for April is deadacted to celebrating Earth Month, it’s all about natural, organic and eco friendly products that will also benefit you. Before you scroll any further make sure you want to see the contents of the box, just in case yours in still in the post, if curiosity has still got the better of you… keep going.

What’s in the box?

Infused with organic cucumber extracts and Vitamin E two things we already know to be good for your skin, plus an added bonus it is safe to use throughout pregnancy and motherhood thanks to the natural and safe ingredients. I’ve already triend this and it is a lovely product that doesn’t overwhelm you with too much scent.

Briogeo : Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask – Infused with argan, avocado, Rosehip, Sweet almond oils as well as a multitude of Vitamins this mask will leave your hair soft and replenished. Lookfantastic #LFBLOOMS

I was happy with the first box and its rare for the second box to be just as good but I’m over the moon happy with everything in it. I definetly recommend giving the Lookfantastic Beauty Box a try.

May GlossyBox – Unboxing & Review

I hope you guys are enjoying the new content of my blog, if you haven’t already seen the new additions then go have a look round (after reading this post).

I loved everything about the April Glossybox and hopefully I’ll have some reviews going live soon but I wasn’t planning on getting until I saw I’d reached my 1000 glossydots. For those that aren’t already members, for every product you recieve in your box you get a survey and for each survey you complete you recieve glossydots. You can only recieve and use your glossydots when you have an active subscription.  So I’ve reached 1000 which means I can get a free box,
which I’ve used to get my May glossybox.

If you don’t want to know what is in the box or if your waiting for your own then it’s time to look away. If your too curious then take a look at what I recieved:

MEMEME – Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand
From what I read I think everyone will have one of these in their box. Blue is a key look for spring and this dual-ended eyeshadow stick has two blue tones to offer. I don’t wear blue so this is going to be new for me but I’m willing to give it a try. It is a full size product worth £6.95.

Etre Bell – Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel
The perfect product for prepping your skin ready for summer and an instant rescue when your skin needs something more than your normal moisturiser. A gel that cools while delivering moisture deep below the surface of the skin and reviving your completion as well as a post-sun savior. Another full size product worth £15.93 which already takes us over the cost of the box with delivery.

Zerreau – Towel Off Shampoo Foam
Now this has my attention, classed as the next generation of dry shampoo, this apple scented beauty allows you to wash your hair with the foam formula and towel dry it off (no need for water). Could it really be that simple?
Not a full size product but full size product is worth £7.95.

SASS – Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate
I love these products when they actually work, I use to buy the Avon one but anyway. Described as a little treat for your skin post-shave or wax, this soothes your skin, reduces hair growth (woohoo), while exfoliating ingredients ensure no more ingrown hairs. Not a full size product and I don’t know if this is enough to trial but will definetly give it a go. Full size product £12.

Philosophy – Renewed Hope in a Jar refreshing & Refining Moisturiser
Endorsed by celebrities and top dermatologists this moisturiser is world-renowned for its skin enhancing qualities. It’s loaded with antioxidants which a unique  soufflé texture. It is said to reduce the appearance of lines, discolouration and uneven texture. Leaving you with a complextion that is hydrated, radiant and looking healthier than ever. Not a full size product but still looking forward to giving it a try although I’m not sure if the sample size will last long enough to give it a fair test. Full size is worth £35.50.

Overall a really good box this month and I’m looking forward to trying all the products. I usually prefer a box with a lot more make up but this time I like the range of products that have been put together and will happily test them.

Glossybox Reveal : April Iconic Box 2015

It’s been a few months since my last box, I was once again starting to stockpile products that were never getting used and I was getting disappointed in the boxes which at the end of the day was a complete waste of money.
I decided the GlossyBox April box was a must for me because it was my kind of box. For anyone who reads my posts regularly then you know I love the stars and looks of the past. I also can’t say no to red lipstick and black winged eyeliner. The theme of the box is Iconic as in the names Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The glamorous movie stars that a lot of girls strive to be in their own way.

I couldn’t wait to recieve this box and wow look at it, already a big smile on my face before I even get to the contents. So here are the contents of this wonderful box:

Lord & Berry Lipstick Pencil : Kiss
A beautiful red lipstick pencil described as the perfect Marilyn red. A modern take on the classic pillar box red, this colour is just what you need for spring (and all year) in pencil form. The pencil form provides easier application as well as the formula been long-lasting with a matte finish. If you want a glossy finish just add a dab of lip balm.  A full size product worth £10 and it slips easily into your bag.

Astral Original Face and Body Moisturiser
A firm favourite amongst make up artists and stars since its creation in the 1950s, this rich moisturising cream is versatile and perfect no matter what your age. It can even be used as a make up remover!. At £3.89 per 200ml it’s not the most expensive product in the box but it’s definitely worth knowing about.

POP Beauty Kajal Eyeliner Pencil
I love my eyeliner and I’m looking forward to giving this a try. A pencil that makes creating that iconic cat eye even easier thanks to the sooty black pencil one end and the sponge applicator the other to create that flick. Want a smokier look just keep blending. Full size product worth £6.50.

Color Club Nail Polish : Barely There
As a rule I hate getting nail varnish, it’s never red in the boxes I get and that’s my favourite nail varnish colour but I can actually say I’m happy this time. I love nude nails as long as the colour works and it doesn’t look patchy. The nail vanish is perfect and is going to be one of my firm favourites when I need a change from red. Very sophisticated and glossy. Another full size product worth £4.10.

Nougat London : Soothing Bath Pearls
Wow these have scented the entire box and the smell is beautiful. An intoxicating, soothing aroma of Fig and Pink Cedar. I’ve just used my last Lush Bath Bomb so this is what’s going in my bath tonight. It’s a new launcher product for £6 per 35ml.

Overall I love this box, it doesn’t add up to a lot but I think i got my money’s worth and I love all the products. Couldn’t be happier. Look out for the reviews
