Review: ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel

With this months GlossyBox I recieved the ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel. I knew before hand that this was likely to be in my September box due to the sneak peek they gave us. I was excited about trying this product as I usually just use a black eyeshadow or pencil through my brows but I am terrible at remembering to set them and have ended up with smudged brows on more occasions that I care to think about. It just isn’t a good look.

GlossyBox September ModelCo More Brows

I tried this out straight away and I can tell you it’s worth the money. It goes on wet and sets dry so my main problem is solved. The coverage is perfect as long as you don’t go to heavy handed but you also have to want the bold brow so only a little bit isn’t going to get you your desired effect.

To use the product:
Just unscrew the wand from the bottle as you do with mascara and then brush the your eyebrows upwards (don’t press as this will cake your skin with product. Its that simple to get bold brows.

GlossyBox September ModelCo More Brows Fibre Gel Review

It comes in two shades light-medium and medium-dark. If you haven’t got your GlossyBox yet I’d get it for this product alone which is worth £14.95 for 3.5ml and you get the full size product.

Review: L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara

Starting in my teens I like every other teenage girl grew and unhealthy obsession with mascara. Its almost a girls first makeup love and walking into a shop with a sales person handing out free samples or money of a brand new mascara was heaven. It was hard to say no to a mascara that did more than your last one and came at a discounted price. Whether they lived up to there claims or got put in a draw with the rest… nearly every girl is on the hunt for the perfect mascara. I have found many products over the years and will have to do a 5 best post for you but this is one I had to review as it quickly topped my list of daily essentials. I recieved this item as a bonus item in my latest in beauty box, as I explained mascara is one thing I cannot turn down. Already a huge fan of the L’Oréal Paris Superliner I was excited to try another eye product from the range.

The Miss Manga as you’ve probably guessed is the mascara to give you that anime / manga look. This means big eyes, volume to the top and the bottom lashes. The brush is designed with a 360 degree flex for easy application,  use zig zag movement to coat the top lashes using the brush like you would normally use a mascara wand, then use the cone shape top of the brush to coat the lower lashes to open up your eyes.

I love this mascara for several reasons but mainly because it is a great mascara. It’s perfect for daytime eyes if your running short on time, a coat of this and your ready to go looking much more awake. It’s great combined with eyeliner for a more intense or classic look and still only needs one coat. If you prefer more colour it also comes in turquoise and violet aswell as black. If your looking for a new mascara that doesn’t cost you over £10 this one will set you back just £8.99. MsRetro

Review – Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick

The first review from the July Glossybox is here, sorry it took me a while but I wanted to thoroughly test these products before giving you my opinion.

image

I was thrilled to have this lipstick, not only is the brand very well known but it was red (this sealed the deal for me). I’ve worn this numerous times over the last few weeks in all kinds of weather this is what I think.

” Want to dress up your lips? Bellapierre luxurious Mineral lipstick has been formulated with natural waxes and mineral pigments, iron oxides and antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Our smooth silky lipsticks deliver moisturizing colour that stays. The mineral pigments provide natural protection from the sun, BellaPierre lipsticks are free of lanolin, bismuth oxychloride and Parabens. These mineral lipsticks are non-synthetic and have a long lasting colour.”

The colour is beautiful, buildable and appiles evenly without much effort. The downside I found is it didn’t last the day and had to be re-applied a little too often. Staying power is a must when it comes to lipstick and it just didn’t cut it when your out for the day the last thing you want is to keep topping up your makeup. It won’t be my go to lipstick but I will wear it again, I did find that the formula didn’t dry my lips out like some other products I’d even say they felt softer after the lipatick was removed.

Overall a good product but not the one for me.

It’s been over 2 years since I last ordered a Glossy Box due to disappointment in not getting the products I wanted and having products piling up around me I knew it was time for a break. I was hoping for this product as I’d just come to the last of my Urban Decay primer potion and even though I would happily buy more theres nothing like a new product to test. This oil-free, ultra-creamy formula is said to even out skin tone around the eye area and keeps your eyeshadow crease-free as well and keeping the colour as it should be. Worth $4.99 full size product, my only worry is how to get hold of it if I like it that much.

Review: Garnier Ultimate Blends

Earlier this month I was sent a new product to test, this hair care range couldn’t have come at a better time as my hair has needed a new lease of life for a while and apart from dyeing some shine back into it I could not find a product that was less extreme than dyeing it. Throughout  the years I have always had to change my hair care routine as once my locks get use to the same process I find they no longer have any effect on my hair. Since pregnancy with my son my hair would not cooperate at all in any way it seemed to have been taken over by some unnatural source and spent most of its time up in a bobble. So when I received a package from Garnier to test their new Ultimate Blends products I was hoping this would be the product I had been waiting for.

GUB

I was sent the colour illuminator products which are the red packaging, there are 6 different sets to choose from and are aimed towards something specific.

Lets start at the beginning, to everyone it may not be the most important but believe me if you don’t like the fragrance of your shampoo you’ll soon have plenty to say. The fragrance of this set was amazing and exhilarating, from the moment the shampoo was in my hand the smell surrounded me and took over my shower. The scents of argan oil and cranberries really made me senses tingle.

I can always tell when a product is right for me, when a shampoo is right for example after lathering and rinsing my hair feels squeaky clean… literally. This is what I had with this product my hair was this clean after one shampoo. The next test then is if the conditioner restores that softness without making it feel almost greasy, which was achieved once again my hair was soft. I then used the illuminator for that conditioning boost which definitely helped restore that healthy glow to my hair. All three products were perfect for my hair type and I would happily use them again (which I plan to do.)

The shine was restored and lasted 5 days, in our British weather this is an accomplishment through days of rain, wind and whatever else is thrown at us. I would recommend this range to anyone looking for a new product either because they want to try something new or like me your usual products have let you down. I am going to continue using these products and hopefully I’ve found the one that will last. Overall this product is worth trying beyond any doubt just make sure you pick the right one of the 6 that will bring out the best in your hair.

Beauty From Within

Its a been almost a year maybe just under since my last post and a lot has happened since then. As you will all remember I got married last October and what me and Mr.Retro found out not long after was we were expecting our 3rd child. So the last year has been mostly filled with growing bigger, clothes not fitting and finding time for sleep was far more important than putting my make up on. I guess that sounds bad loving my make up as much as I do but thats what pregnancy did to me.

Since our little boy was born in June I have been trying to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy, I managed to slim down for my wedding but getting the weight off this time seems to be harder. It took my wedding to motivate me last time and Id had two pregnancies before that so the last couple of weeks I have been trying to decide what are the best things for me. Fitting exercise around 3 very busy kids and normal day to day life is very tough. The best thing to do I’ve found (which sounds so cliche) is drink water whenever you can, exercise whenever you can, don’t make working out a chore (Zumba is Great fun), eating loads of fruit and veg and radiate confidence (even if your faking it).

Which leads me to the title of this post, I never quite understood the phrase “Beauty From Within” when I was younger, in my teens it was simple black or white you were either pretty or you were not. When you enter your late teens to early 20s this is when most people will basically stand up to the world and say this is me either like it or go away. Now I’m in my late 20s I think I’m finally understanding what it means. Its not all about the make up you wear, everybody has body hang ups even the people you think are perfect have things they dislike about themselves. Its that little bit of concealer, red lippy, favourite top or skirt that can make us feel beautiful and when we feel beautiful we look beautiful. For any Castle fans, Martha (Castles Mum) got it spot on, everyone sees something wrong with their body be it a wobbly belly or flat bum and we spend the rest of our lives trying to find that happiness with ourselves we had as a child, the age of innocence that all it took was a plastic tiara and a tutu (or princess dress) to feel beautiful.

What works for you?, What’s that one thing that makes you feel beautiful no matter what?

No7 Airbrush Away Primer Review

As you all know my go to primer has always been Mac Primer and I have sworn by this primer for years. The formula is silky smooth and glides onto your skin perfectly. So coming to the end of my bottle I wanted to try something new as my skin gets use to my usual products and I find they become less effective with time. Although my Mac primer will always be a favourite I needed something different as my skin had changed from when I first started using it. As I was getting married in October last year this seemed like a perfect time to test some new products and I think I have found one of the best primers money can buy.

Using Boots new foundation match system I also asked if I could try their No7 Airbrush Away Primer as feeling a sample on my hand it was the kind of texture I look for in my primer. I used this sample on a couple of occasions over the weeks leading up to my wedding obviously I didn’t want to break out or have flakey make-up come my big day. The results spoke for themselves it glided on easily, sunk into my skin forming that perfect smooth base for foundation and was dry within seconds ready for a coat of foundation.

  • Smooth Silky Texture
  • Non-Greasy or Oily
  • Easy to apply with brush or fingertips
  • Quick Drying
  • Lasts up to 8 hours (even longer in my case)
  • Hypo-Allergenic

I’d easily give this a 10/10, price wise is quite expensive at £19.50 for 30ml (it only comes in one size) but a little goes a long way with this formula and it wont let you down. It didn’t let me down on my big day.

Wedding, Halloween and where I am now…

Hiya Guys,

Its been over a month since my last posts and I apologise for this, It was the run up to my Wedding last month and I never seemed to have enough time in one day. I won’t be catching up on the beauty boxes I’ve missed as if you were waiting for a review / reveal then you would have already got it by now. Instead I will start with posts regarding Christmas as that is now what everyone is thinking about. Between what look to go for regarding clothes and make-up to what the house is going to look like this year so this is where my energy will be focused. I’ve missed you all and I’m looking forward to getting back to normal.

Thanks

No7 Perfect Match Service Review

Ever since seeing the adverts on the tv I’ve wanted to try Boots No7 Perfect Match service. It is a new service which hasn’t been around for very long and I wondered if it actually worked. If you haventt heard of this before then let me explain, Boots have brought out a new electronic device which matches up your foundation shade to their foundations. I have never been a huge fan of No7 not that I’ve had any problem with their products just I hadn’t found products I really liked so I wanted to give a new foundation a go. It may sound like a bit of  a gimmek but for the women who have bought the wrong shade of foundation time and time again this saves money, reduces time and stress. Their are 28 shades that could be your possible match but the question is does it work?

Well the best way to find out was from personal experience so I gave it go. Firstly I was asked what kind of coverage I was after and what I would be using the foundation for this gave them an idea of which type of foundation would suit me best. The lady at the counter asked if I was wearing any make up which for the occasion I was not ( any make up would interfere with the result), then she wiped my jawline both sides with a baby wipe this got rid of any dirt or oil that would again interfere. Once she had used the electronic device both sides she told me the shade then did it once more again each side in a different position to make sure the first reaults were the same.

After that she picked out my colour and tried the shade on my face, the match was perfect and exactly what I was after. After showing me one side of my facwe with the colour she then put it all over. It wasn’t like wearing foundation just a more awake version of myself with perfect skin. To confirm my findings with this service my mother in law also had hers matched and once again it was perfect. Id reccomend this to anyone to try. The results speak for themselves which I will show you very soon x
