Galactic – 17 Starry Eyes Trio Eyeshadow Look

I was trying to create a nice green look when I came across my Starry Eyes Trio, I was due to go out with the other half but in the end he ended up working late so this look went to was. Pity really because the pigment and sparkle this eye trio give off really are gorgeous. The Starry Eyes selection comes in 4 shades: Starstruck, Moon Dust, Neptune and the one I have which is Galactic.

“Perfect for creating the ultimate Club Queen look. Add the dark metallic green onto your top eyelids and apply a line under your bottom lashes. Use the lighter shade in the inner corner of your eyes and to create a super sexy look extend it outwards.”

I created this look using:

  • Illamasqua Skin base Foundation – 4.5
  • Benefit Erase Paste – Shade 1

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • 17 Starry Eyes Trio Eye Shadow – all colours
  • MAC Eye Shadow – Steamy
  • M.A.C Mascara – mascara x

  • Duwop Lip Venom – Buttercup
  • Duwop Private Lipstick – Nude

Look: Down To Earth ( Green People, Flick Tips, Lux Box )

In my Lux Box this month I received an eco eye shadow trio from Green People, this little compact has three beautiful shades to create the perfect look. The shade I recieved in my box was Earth and I think this will create a lovely down to earth look, hence the name. Green People are a British organic product company that has been running for 15 years and they sell a wide range of organic products such as skincare, make up and hair products just to name a few. I used these to create the look:

Summer Ombre Look

If you haven’t seen the Ombre trend lately heres a look at it as a make up look. I’ve seen it mostly on nails this summer but I thought a look like this couldn’t hurt especially with the make up trio I was using which I will get to later. Ombre is french for shadow / shade / shaded, in the fashion world it basically means anything stating out as one colour and morphing into another. Ombre has been everywhere so far, we’ve had hair, clothes, nails so why not Ombre eye shadow?

MsRetro’s Daily Beauty Routine

I’ve never been a great believer that to look beautiful you have to spend hours in front of a mirror and wear make up wherever you go. To me beautiful is looking after what your given and then playing up your favourite parts with some make up subtle or explosive. To me a daily beauty routine is a great way to keep my skin looking and feeling healthy but also essential as I am an avid make up wearer so I not only have to rid my skin of the daily grime but also the make up too. Leaving your make up on overnight is a very bad habit as your blocking the pores on your face, this can lead to clogging them up which will leave you with enlarged pores and acne. I thought I would go over what my personal daily beauty routine is, feel free to let me know what you include in your daily routine, I’d love to know:

1. Cleanse – There are two ways I use my cleanser, when I’m running low on time I put a drop of cleanser on a cotton wool ball or ball and rub gently all over my face, I repeat this process until the cotton wool comes away without dirt on. If I have more time I rub the cleanser all over my face using my hands concentrating near my nose as this is where my skin seems to get more oily. Once I’ve covered every area I then rinse my face with luke warm water…just warm enough to open the pores and draw out the dirt.

2.Toner – After the cleansing its time for the toning and if your thinking why do I have to do both…well its because the the toner picks up any dirt you missed with the cleanser. Once again I use cotton wool / cotton pads just put some toner on and rub gently all over your face again making sure you get the area around the nose, chin and forehead. If you’ve found you’ve used too much toner then dab the excess off with a tissue. At this point your skin should already be feeling refreshed.

3.Exfoliate – A must in my opinion and this step can easily be missed which is why sometimes you get the dead skin coming off in your make up (yes this is possible) it doesn’t mean that anything is wrong with your skin just that you need to get rid of the old skin cells. Its another thing that can lead to dry skin, clogged pores and acne. Important though don’t over do this step, once a week should be enough.

4.Serum – If your thinking I don’t use this then maybe now is the time to begin, I was also the kind of person at didn’t use this but after trying it once I soon found its the difference in my skin been dry or looking healthy. All you have to do is put a little bit in your hands (little goes a long way) and then massage it in to your skin but a word of warning let it sink in before adding your moisturiser.

5.Eye Cream – I have a few different eye creams and I usually apply this in the morning when I get up and at night before I go to bed. Its another product that you only a need a little of, squeeze a little on to your finger and dab it under your eye along the bone, don’t make two mistakes of rubbing it in or putting it too close to your eye as the skin right underneath your eye if very sensitive. If you make those two mistakes you could end up looking worse not better.

6.Moisturiser – Rub in your face using a good amount to make sure you don’t miss any area, using your hands of course is best and then let it sink in. I recommend then giving your skin about half an hour break before applying your make up.

7. SPF – As a final step I would suggest using a foundation or tinted moisturiser with SPF as its worth protecting your skin from sun damage even if you think there isn’t enough rays to do damage. After all this your done, its not a long process and you’ll be done before you know it.

Hope this helps you and I’m looking forward to reading your opinions x

Snow White & The Huntsman Palette : Look & Review

I had been waiting to see Snow White & The Huntsman for months when I came across this exclusive Palette by Diego Dalla Palma. I originally saw it advertised by She Said Beauty in a give away which I entered so I could have ended up with two.  The palette has 6 neutral shades, 3 sparkle and 3 matt, eyeliner and lipstick. I will swatch this later so you can see the colours on their own. I have never used Diego Dalla Palma make up before but I am impressed.

Here was what I used and my overall look:

Diego Dalla Palma – Snow White & The Huntsman Palette :

E.L.F Studio : Eyebrow lifter / filler

Mac Mascara x – Black

Boots 17 Photo Flawless Mascara – Black,Gold

Mac Lip Liner – Cherry

Diego Dalla Palma – Snow White & The Huntsman Palette : Lipstick – Wicked Queen

I loved using this palette, the colours were so soft and bendable. The eye liner was soft and could hold a line as well as work with a smudged smokey eye look and as for the lipstick this is a beautiful colour red which I will happily add to my collection, creamy and has staying power.

Enjoy x

Ways to Look Younger Without Breaking The Bank

Many people are looking for ways to look younger these days, surgery isn’t the answer not when if you think looking after yourself will have the benefits you want and a few other little secrets.

It’s already known that eating right, drinking plenty of water and exercising holds many of these benefits but there are other ways to on top of the standard knowledge that can help.

Make-up can be a girls best friend (even sometimes a guys), its more than some lipstick on a night out or some eye shadow and mascara in the morning. It can be like having a magic wand if used right and who doesn’t want a bit of magic.

I’ve put together a few tips to make the most out of your make-up and get the benefits you deserve.

  1. Wash Your Face – Firstly  and I know this may sound simple but make sure you wash your face before applying make-up.  I know you may have washed your face the night before but you need to do this again in the morning. Its more than waking you up, its getting rid of dead skin cells and the oil that has built up on your skin over-night. Once your washed, dried and you’ve applied moisturiser then you can add your primer.
  2. Primer – Now it’s hard to beleive that companies don’t bring out gimmick after gimmick just to make us buy. When I was younger I never used primer I thought it was just another way for companies to make money but its not true when it comes to primer…it makes a difference. Primer for your face can mean the difference between your foundation gliding on on without it showing every bump and flaw.
  3. What Lines? – That’s what you want to say right when your friend is showing you the lines under or at the side of your eyes. Dark bags under your eyes are easy to disguise with a light concealer but what about lines. Beleive it or not there is an answer and for me (yes I have these lines and I’m 25) the answer is Benefit Eyecon which is a brightening eyecream, it fades dark circles and smoothes out fine lines. It’s not cheap at £22.50 for a 14g jar but it works and the jar will last ages.
  4. Break the rules – So you’ve been told that you shouldn’t wear blue eye shadow and that brown makes your eyes pop. Does that mean your only going to wear brown for the rest of your life?. The truth is you can wear any colour you want, you just have to make it work for you. There are rules of what colour suits your eye colour best but its not always accurate if you have say blue eyes with flecs of green. Be adventourus and try something different, even if you do end up taking it off and starting all over again.
  5. It doesn’t always have to be black – Black eyeliner is a must have in every womans make-up bag but it doesn’t always look that great on everyone. For younger generations we can practically use any colour we want, as you get older black can close your eyes off giving the apperance of smaller eyes, so when black doesn’t look that great anymore move on to grey….I know this doesn’t sound as nice but grey is a gorgeous colour to work with. My favourite is Stormy Grey Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil from Rimmel. If this is still a little too dark then browns are the way to go and remember theres always a way to make them work for you.
  6. Use By Dates – No I’m not talking about the food in your fridge, your make up has use by dates or its better said best before dates. I know theres people out there thinking don’t me silly its make-up but thats exactly why I’m saying this. There is usually about a 6 month period for what you buy…look at the tube or the label and you will see 3m or 6m and this is usually the date you should look to use it in and then get rid of it. Why should you pay attention to these labels? becuase at the end of the day you can read the labels but no know exactly whats in them and what kind of reaction it will have with your skin if used after the date it has suggested. Your could damage your skin, most mascaras are only good for 3 months…would you risk damaging your eyes for the sake of a £7.oo mascara. I know I wouldn’t so be vigilant in what your using on your skin and you don’t always see the damage been done.
  7. All White – The quicket and easiet make-up trick to having wide awake eyes all with the simplest of products. There’s 3 things that will do this for you. The first is white eye shadow on the inner corner of your eyes, it instantly makes your eyes appear bigger, fresher and more noticible. Second is white eyeliner along your lower lashline this again makes your eyes appear bigger. Then lastly a peachy-ivory colour like M.A.C Eye Shadow – Vanilla on your brow bone.

I will update this list with new tips as and when they come.

Those are a few tips for you and I hope they help with your dilemas.
